Bed Time Battles (with a strong willed child!)

After battling my little girl for two nights in a row about sleeping in her own bed I went to sleep last night, finally victorious! ......or so I thought! I never realized I was such a sound sleeper! I woke up, surprised to see my defenses had fallen while my opponent found me sleeping! I went against my nature, which is to let sleeping babes lie, and woke her and told her to get in her own bed right now! What am I going to do with this child! She is so determined to have her way. She is so much more stubborn than I am, but I know I can't let her win, or it will encourage her even more! Not to mention I may never get her out of our bed!

I feel for you. M second regularly snuck in while I was sleeping soundly and when I realized it I was too tired or too lazy to get him up and out. Now my youngest is still in my bed at almost one but honestly this time I've decided I don't care...eventually they will not want to sleep with me. And I can sleep when I'm old :)

I know what you mean! Unfortunately though, it's my husband that insists that she sleep in her own bed. Which, shouldn't really be up to him in the first place, since he's only home about 2 or 3 nights a week!!! I don't want to confuse her by each of us telling her two different things. Gggrrr!!! So because he's gone most of the time, I have to be the meanie that enforces it! ....and that's no easy job with her! =D ....phew!!! ...sorry, ....I'm done ranting now! ;)

How old is your little girl? I must admit: our five year old son still comes visiting our bed at night.

I'm too tired to fight it, and I'm sure eventually he'll stay in his own bed naturally.

Or at least, I really, really hope so.

Good for you that you keep trying.
I have lost the will to fight.

We had the same situation with our daughter before but when we transferred here in Korea, she finally decided to sleep on her own bed... Now, our son wants her mom to sleep in his bed too lol..

Hey, I know what you guys mean. You know when that happened. I did not wake the girls up. I just picked them up and carried them in their bed and when they woke up in the morning and found themselves in their bed, that is all it took. Hope this helps. I have two girls, they are now 16 and 21. I am so glad that stage is over with.

Nichole- Thanks! My little girl is 5 also (she'll be 6 in a few more days!). I know they do eventually grow out of it because my son is 10 and slept in our bed until he was around 5 but has no desire to anymore (thankfully!)

Biax- Thank you! =D

Joops- It's nice that your daughter transitioned so well. It's just as tough when they want you to sleep in their bed! Mine went through that phase when she was a lot younger. Every time I'd try to sneak out she'd wake up and start crying again! That was not fun!!! =D

Pkay- Thank you for the advice! :)I've tried this before, but then whenever she'd wake up in the night, she'd come back to our bed! Fortunately though, she's stayed in her bed all night for 3 nights in a row!!! Yay! =D

Cecile- Mine would always wake up whenever I'd try to leave, no matter how quiet I was!!! Thankfully she's doing great now! It just took awhile! :D
